After more than five years of existence, Palm.Net™ is ceasing operations. The service will close and no longer be available after August 31, 2004. A Q&A is posted on the palmOne web site to help address questions customers may have.
Monthly Billing
Final Palm.Net monthly recurring charge will be billed in August, 2004, covering basic charges through August 31, 2004. Any data overage used during the month of August will be billed in September, 2004. Questions or issues pertaining to billing should be directed to custcare@palm.net.
VII, VIIx and i705 Hardware
All wireless handheld functionality that utilizes the Palm.Net network will not be available after August 31, 2004. Of course owners can continue to use VII, VIIx and i705 devices in non-wireless mode and take advantage of all the great features Palm handhelds offer. Unfortunately, the handheld’s wireless capability is only compatible with the Palm.Net network and can't be transferred to another network.
Email Account
All current palm.com or palm.net email addresses will not be available after August 31, 2004. However, we are pleased that USA.NET, the engine behind palm.net and palm.com email for the past four years, is in position to provide subscribers with the same feature-rich email service, plus improved spam filtering, virus protection, web access, 25 MB of storage, POP, and 24x7 customer support.
In the interest of easing this transition, USA.NET will provide continuing email service at a low introductory price of $19.95/year, an offer available only to former palm.com and palm.net subscribers. Upon acceptance of this offer, all content currently in the palm.com or palm.net email account, including inbox, sent items, deleted items and address book, will be automatically transferred to the new USA.NET email account.
All Palm.Net subscribers will receive an email from USA.NET in the near future with simple instructions for claiming email address and its associated contents. In the meantime, please visit http://palmone.usa.net for more information regarding how to gain access to the new USA.NET email account.
Without our subscribers, palmOne would not be where it is today. The Treo 600, Tungsten T3, Tungsten C, email solutions, VPN, etc. all have roots in Palm.Net. We would like to thank our subscribes for their business over the past years. |
